The Tennessee Hoedowners are a precision clogging team from Surgoinsville, Tennessee. The competition dancing started over 15 years ago as a team. The Hoedowners, under the direction of Sherry Cox, hold six National titles and CCA National Challenge 2000 and 2001 Team. The Hoedowners are the only clogging team to ever hold both CCA and NCHC National titles in the same year.
The Tennessee Hoedowners have performed at various TV shows like Crook and Chase, Nashville Now and the Grand Ole Opry. They have been involved in theme park performances at Silver Dollar City, Branson Mo. and Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. They entertained at Silver Dollar City for three years and at Dollywood in the Randy Parton "Back to the Country Show" for two years.
The Hoedowners entertained groups all over the USA and Europe. The Hoedowners have been special guest at the Bristol Ballet and the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra, where they demonstrated their skills as Irish Step Dancers for the past three years.
The group keeps own growing and changing as time goes along. The Hoedowners started some twenty five years ago with only five dancers and has grown to several teams, Peewees, Elementary, Juniors, Seniors and more with a total of approx. one hundred and fifty dancers at any given time.
The Tennessee Hoedowners travel to several competitions to qualify for both the CCA and NCHC clogging dance offs to have a chance for the National Title. During a year of intense competition they will travel to sixteen competitions and compete against hundreds of other clogging teams.
Nineteen years of National Titles and have produced 36 years of winners. The Tennessee Hoedowners will appear on the Shot Gun Red Show in January 2013
